Happy Monday. It's Labor Day and I hope you've got a great day ahead of you. Please continue to pray for those in Texas who have been destroyed and pray for all of those who are there helping.
On Saturday I got to spend a little time back on the campus of the university where I had spent my early years. So many things have changed since I graduated--lots of new buildings and with 4 cranes around campus more are coming. They say you can't go home and maybe to some degree that's true. It was good to see that things are going well but it was also nice to see so much that was familiar--that there are some things that don't change.
Organizations, like living things, do change. Bro. Frank always said "if something isn't growing, it's dying or it's a freak". He has such a way with words, but he is right. Things either grow or they end. Few things in this life can stay static and not sour.
That same principle holds true with our lives as Christians. Either we are growing in the knowledge and grace of our Lord or we are sliding backward in our faith. You can't just get to the point where you know enough this side of heaven and decide you can kick back and quit studying and praying. We all must keep that time of our day sacred. Growing protects what you don't want changing--your faith and commitment to the one true God.
“But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. Glory to the Master, now and forever! Yes!”
2 Peter 3:17-18 MSG
Today, make sure you do at least one thing to grow in the knowledge of Jesus. Read the words He spoke and bury them in your heart. Make today count for the kingdom.
Love you friend,
Pam
